The Borage and Calendula sure have the bees visiting! I figure if I provide housing then we can amplify the pollination and petal output because the bees are traveling less distance to the flowers. Hence we introduce the Bee Condo: Thank you to Fox Leas for the idea!
I love Borage plants for their changing petals. The petals start out blue and turn to a pink.
The compost was full and mostly decomposed. The contents had been turned several times but I couldn’t wait any longer as some of my pots have room at the top and I’m sure the plants would love the extra nutrients. So I separated the contents and ended up with the below:
It’s July and I’ve only filled a couple Mason jars with petals. But that’s OK, this is my first year growing the flowers and next year, I’ll have mature Calendula providing much more petals than this year.
